The Elcometer 308 Delta T Hygrometer provides a reliable and fast measurement of the two critical climate parameters within coatings: Delta T & RH

Surface temperature (Ts) and Relative Humidity (%RH) are two key climatic values that are specified on many datasheets.

• Delta T (TΔ): The difference between the surface temperature (Ts) and the dewpoint temperature (Td). When TΔ is less than 3ºC (5ºF) painting should not occur.

• Relative Humidity (RH): Expressed as a percentage, RH is the ratio of the amount of water vapour actually held by the air compared to the maximum amount of water vapour the air could hold at a given temperature. Typical maximum RH values specified by paint manufacturers are between 75% and 85%.

Rugged design: Suitable for use in extreme environments the Elcometer 308 Hygrometer is dustproof and waterproof with fully sealed sensors.
Measurement Hold / Release function: With a single button press reading is ‘held’ on the screen. These can then be recorded before simply pressing the button again to ‘release’ the screen and continue to take further readings as necessary.
Backlight: Bright screen making information easy to read – ideal in dark or confined spaces.

This Hygrometer can be used in very hot environments where the surface temperature of the substrate can exceed the paint manufacturer’s recommended limits for successful painting.

Before painting it is necessary to check that the climatic conditions are suitable for the coating being applied. These are clearly specified on the paint manufacturer’s product data-sheet.
